Materials + Finishes

At Trovato, material selection is never incidental. Each piece begins with a consideration of texture, weight and longevity – how a surface feels to the hand, how it responds to light, and how it will evolve over time.

We work with a refined palette of timber, metal, resin, glass, textiles and natural finishes chosen for their honesty and durability. Variations in tone, grain and texture are embraced as part of the character of each object.

Our finishes are developed with longevity in mind, designed to age gracefully, softening and deepening with use. To support this approach, selected materials and upholstery are evaluated using in-house abrasion testing equipment, while seating designs undergo load and durability testing to assess strength, stability and long-term performance.

This material integrity sits at the core of Trovato’s philosophy – creating pieces intended not only to be lived with, but to endure. Over time, these materials are intended to settle naturally into their environment, becoming quieter, richer and more personal with use.
